IMG_4064Captain James DeWolf made a fortune in the slave trade. He was notorious for throwing sick-but-still-living slaves into the Atlantic. Rumor has it that he was so afraid of the spririts of the murdered slaves he had a twenty foot high mound of dirt built over his tomb. At the time of his death he was the second richest man in the United States.
